Wolfgang:
Rio Bravo in Iraq
It’s not facil to ventilate the own „private“ opinion, because we all
have too little attainments about the correct situation in Iraq. Is this Saddam
Hussein - verily a bad dictator - really such a danger for the world, or
is this version only a declaration of typical american extremeness? We can have
a hunch about some possible backgrounds, but sometimes we have more or less
sympathies for acting politicians, especially for Mr. US-President, but this all
must not be the thruth!
There are some observations (in news or in TV) making me sceptical: The
idioms and the gesture of Mr. Bush given’t me confidence in his (real)
plans! He reminds me of some american „Western“ with John Wayne (but not the
good ones!), and I get sometimes the suspicion, that his interests are bearing
more on oil and/or on his image in the USA (‘look here, I am the hero,
who has saved the world of the horror of terrorism!’).
On the other side I am afraid, that the enthusiasts of war will underestimate
the danger of destabilisation in Near East. There are no democratic countries,
and nobody knows, in which direction some Arabian states will develope; what
will be the consequences to the conflict between Palästina and Israel? Starting
a war can induce a big fire in the total region and can overlap to Europe.
Summerizing: I am against the war, because we can judge the situation like we
will: This war would be a war of agression, not a war of defence!
Finally: Where was the UN and where was Mr. President, when in the last years
millions of peoples were killed by terroristic groups in Africa?
I hope this war will not come, but I am afraid, we cannot avert it!
